Jesus: I Speak to You Again
Chapter 147
Light Experiences the Resistance of Darkness
As you deepen your spiritual perception, you will begin to see the world around you in a new light. This greater awareness will naturally lead you to behave differently, not to elevate yourself above others, but because this new way of living will feel more authentic and true. To those around you, however, this transformation may be incomprehensible and, at times, irritating. You have a saying: “a black sheep.” Though it is just like any other sheep, its difference in color makes it stand out and become disliked.
I tell you this so that you may understand that on the path of light, while there is bliss, there is also resistance. Those who remain in darkness may seek to pull you back, trying to strip away the bliss that the Father has provided. They will attempt to make you conform to their ways, to blend into their herd, so that you are no different from the rest.
The Father is leading everyone, but not all are attuned to His guidance. Once someone feels His presence, they can no longer live as they once did. They do not want to return to the darkness after tasting the light and freedom from ritualistic restrictions and experiencing the Father’s living love. They long to share this newfound joy with others. However, this light, shared with love and devotion, can irritate those who are not yet ready to embrace love and goodness, and who remain governed by their lower, animal selves.
You will face resistance proportionate to your actions. The deeper you go on the spiritual path, the further you move from the dark environment, and the more it will try to pull you back. To weaken this resistance, you must maintain a living relationship with the Father. Commune with Him regularly, receiving His guidance on how to act wisely in challenging situations. Your mind might suggest actions that could provoke those around you, but the Father’s counsel will help you navigate these situations peacefully.
Remember that the Father loves you and your aggressive, angry brethren equally. Over time, you will begin to feel love and mercy for those who oppose you. Your attitude will soften, and your actions will become less threatening to them, leading to less conflict.
Through this experience, you will learn that the only way to change others is through consistent, loving service. You can only change yourself directly by deepening your devotion to the Father. This was my approach when I lived in the flesh. My environment was not supportive; it tried to confine me within rigid traditions and rituals. But I did not resist. Instead, I sought communion with the Father in my own words and thoughts, just as I would speak with my earthly father. I spoke with the Father every day, and in time, I began to notice that my thoughts became purer, my understanding deeper, and I felt waves of love within me. That is when I knew the Father was speaking to me.
The Father speaks in a way that can be heard by anyone who sincerely seeks Him. This relationship with the Father changed me. It transformed me from a restless child into a young man with a deeper outlook, able to foresee the actions of those around me. This foresight came from my deeper understanding of their character. Knowing a person’s character allows you to predict their actions before they occur.
You, too, will experience this. As you commune with the Father, you will gain a profound understanding of those around you. You will see into their hearts and know when they are afraid, anxious, or at peace. You will see this in people you haven’t even spoken to. This deep insight will help you connect with others, even in hostile environments, and know how much of the Father’s truth you can share with them.
The world is not uniform. There will always be small pockets of light within the darkness. Your task is to shine your light so that others may awaken to their own inner light. However, not all victories on the spiritual path are outwardly visible. The Father guarantees that you will gain new experiences and feel bliss, but you will not always see the changes you hope for in others.
Do not be discouraged if someone who initially listens with enthusiasm later retreats back into their old ways. The spiritual path is one of personal victories. Even when you face betrayal or rejection, it is an opportunity for growth. There are no defeats on the spiritual path—only experiences that shape and develop you as a son or daughter of the Father.
It is easy to serve in love when surrounded by others who share your faith. But it requires great faithfulness to serve when you are alone, facing slander or betrayal. These moments test the depth of your devotion and faithfulness to the Father, and they are some of the most meaningful experiences in your spiritual growth.
