Jesus: I Speak to You Again
Chapter 72
Democracy Is the Grave-digger of Your Future
The model of democracy promoted by politicians today is suppressing human initiative and elevating mediocrity. Under these conditions, society becomes divided, and each group tries to impose its own decisions on the whole, often going against the law of the Father’s love. Many of your brethren, with deeper insight, can feel this truth. You begin to see that political parties are driven by their own interests, riddled with corruption, and that power has become a tool for promoting greed and dishonesty. This corruption is at the core of modern democracy.
A mind that does not understand the principle of cause-action-consequence, which governs all creation, cannot see a way out of this situation. In this way, democracy is the grave-digger of your society, and the shovel is held by each person who refuses to think and act in alignment with the Father’s love. Politicians use you as a cover to spread corruption throughout the world.
Democracy once had a noble purpose when slavery silenced the voices of individuals and limited their ability to participate in decision-making. However, as time passed and slavery was abolished, democracy began to block the spiritual, moral, and even economic development of society.
Take a simple example: if you manage to gain the support of just enough people to secure a majority, your idea wins, even if others see it as harmful or flawed. It’s clear that the truth or the right idea might come from a single person, while the majority can be wrong. In a democratic system, that one person would never have the chance to act on their idea. However, if they manage to persuade or manipulate enough people, even through incentives, the idea can gain majority support and be put into action, even if it’s misguided.
This is why democracy often becomes a breeding ground for corruption. The old saying that “democracy is the worst form of government except for all the others” must soon be replaced if society and humanity are to survive. What is needed is not the rule of corrupt individuals but the leadership of those who are guided by spiritual principles—the autocracy of spiritual leaders.
