Jesus: I Speak to You Again
Chapter 77
The Harm of Modern Sport to Humanity
You have turned the achievements of sport into a corrupt business, harming athletes with stimulants and dangerous ideas. Athletes are treated like machines, surrounded by teams of doctors, psychologists, managers, and others, all working to push their bodies to the limit for profit. Chemical companies are complicit, producing substances that suppress brain activity while artificially boosting muscle and blood performance, without regard for the long-term harm to the athlete and humanity as a whole.
This industry, driven by profit, relies on mass spectacle. You promote these events so they can be viewed by as many people as possible, even selling exclusive rights to broadcast them for enormous sums. By doing so, you draw more people into participating in this harmful and degrading display, particularly children. Children, watching these spectacles, begin to aspire to the same false glamour. Parents unknowingly encourage these distorted desires, leading their children down a path that will harm both their physical and spiritual well-being.
The entire system of competition is harmful, from its effects on children’s minds to the damage it inflicts on adults. It degrades consciousness, lowers spiritual vibrations, and harms the soul, making it increasingly difficult to find inner peace.
When I lived among you in the flesh, I visited the Greek city of Scythopolis with my father. It was my first time in a large city, and while my father showed me the synagogue, I became captivated by the youth sports games taking place. I begged my father to take me to watch them. Like most Jews, my father looked down on such physical contests, seeing them as ungodly. But after much persuasion, he relented. As we watched, I was thrilled and suggested that we hold similar competitions for the youth in Nazareth. My father became furious, shouting at me in a way I had never seen before, forbidding me from even speaking of such games again.
While my father rejected all such games, my belief is not that all competitions are wrong but that the way they are conducted today is harmful. Games are necessary, but they need to change. Instead of competing for prizes or money, they should be about camaraderie and joy. After the events, athletes should sit together, sharing their experiences, discussing what they learned, and offering advice to each other. Spectators should not be separated from the athletes but should be free to join the conversations, creating a sense of community and mutual enjoyment.
The goal should not be victory at any cost, but rather the experience of coming together, learning, and enjoying the event itself. This kind of competition builds the soul, while the current model of professional sports degrades it.
One day, this destructive business of modern sports will end, as people open their souls to the love of the Father. When that happens, no one will want to participate in the immature actions that make up today’s sports industry, from school competitions to professional levels. This current path is one where you are cutting off the branch on which you sit.
